The Situation
A retail organisation was reporting on sales, inventory, and customer data entirely through manual Excel exports, rebuilt from scratch every cycle. Every report was slightly different depending on who built it, and there was no single, trusted view of the business.
The Challenge
Leadership needed one reliable, automated reporting ecosystem covering three separate business functions — sales, inventory, and customer data — sourced from two different systems (Business Central and Dataverse), with enterprise-grade access control, and needed it fast.
My Approach
I owned this build solo, from the first data-model diagram to the production release, sequencing the work so each layer unblocked the next rather than tackling everything in parallel.
Architected the complete star-schema data model first, unifying Business Central and Dataverse into one coherent semantic layer before writing a single visual.
Authored the full DAX measure library on top of that model, covering sales, inventory, and customer KPIs consistently across all reports.
Designed and built the entire visual layer — from blank canvas to a production-ready multi-report ecosystem — inside a single sprint cycle.
Enforced Row-Level Security end-to-end so every user role could access only its authorised data, meeting the client's enterprise compliance requirements from day one rather than retrofitting it later.
Result & Impact
Gave leadership a single source of truth across three business functions for the first time.
Eliminated the recurring manual-Excel rebuild cycle entirely.
Shipped a full data model, DAX layer, and visual suite — from nothing to live production — within one sprint.
